Budapest, Hungary 2012- Second day

As we woke up the other morning, we headed out and visit the other famous bridge on our lists and it is known as “Margaret Bridge”.  It was the bridge in a yellow paint and just like the “Chain Bridge” it is a two road lane with cycling path and walking path in each side. It is also crosses the Danube river just like the others. Margaret Bridge has total length of 637.5 meters. It is also the second oldest public bridge in Budapest. There was also pedestrian located almost at the middle of the bridge so people can cross from each side, because Margaret Bridge is connected to this called “Margaret Island”.

Margaret Island is a long Island connected to Margaret Bridge. When you enter the Island, you can immediately say what this long island can offer to you, and of course what you will see for first is this called “The Centennial Memorial”. You can also rent family bikes or normal bikes to some locals inside the Margaret Island, because it is surely a long walk if you would do it, and trust me; you’ll not going to even see what’s at the middle of the Island, because you’ll immediately be exhausted (Just like what happened to me and my husband.) We never been to anywhere further, because we were so exhausted, then we realized we should have rent a bike so we can all have seen what was there. As I looked at the map, there was the “Water Tower”, but as I told you we never reached that area. Anyway, one thing I can surely say is that; it was a good nature there, and if you feel like doing some sports, and bicycling; well I guess that was a pretty enough good place for that.

After we visited the Island we went to McDonald’s and ate something before we continue finding the “City Park”. After we ate, we headed to subway hoping to make it easier to find the City Park, but trust me, we never did, but instead we went to sub-way and go to every station we like, stopped there and look around. We finally found something for first. It was a Mall, I was glad because you knew me, (I like to shop) but we never expected again, it was closed!We don’t have any idea how does that possible. I mean weekend, shopping time, but we couldn’t find something. Since we are hopeless, we went back to sub-way and find this called “Plaza Arena” which I just saw in the map, and a coupon advertising it. (Receptionist gave that to us) It says, that there was 200 shops inside that mall, so since we were at the sub-way and hoping that we will find it right away; well we tried to use the GPS to easily locate it, but unfortunately, it seems to be endless walking. My husband doubt that we are going to find it, so he told me that we will go back and then, look at the internet where else can we find shopping mall, since we have just almost one and half day that time.

So moving on! My husband and I just took a joy ride. Stopped where we want! Station by Stations, we finally got tired and just walked; until we saw this interesting building known as “Central Market Hall”.  It is the largest indoor market in Budapest. It was close every Sunday, so if you guys happened to visit Budapest, Hungary; do not go to Central Market Hall on Sunday, because it is always close. It is open at 6am and closes at 5pm during Monday, 6pm every Tuesday Friday, and closes at 3pm every Saturday.

Next to Central Market Hall building is “University of Economics”.

When you continuously walking; you will immediately see a bridge painted in green. It is known as “Liberty Bridge”.  This bridge connects “Buda” and “Pest” across the Danube River. Unlike other bridge, many trams are crossing Liberty Bridge. It has 333.6m in length and 20.1m in width.

When you crossed the bridge, you will see the “Hotel Gellért”. It is huge and famous hotel, located at the foot of the hill. On the other side was this over-looking hill called “Gellért hill”. From the top you can see the over-looking and stunning view of Danube.

We actually didn’t stay long to that hill because my husband was kind of tired from walking, so went back and saw this woman wearing a clothes like a Nun (I preferred to call her “Nun”) She was selling hand-made doll, and table clothing. At first, this beautiful doll caught my attention, and I just can’t go without it. So I asked my husband to ask the woman (Nun) how much a doll cost.

It cost 3,000 Forint; and so I immediately bought it. I was so happy, when we left the hill; like a kid. (Giggling)

So moving on from being a kiddy; my husband and I went to a coffee shop after a long walked. We tried to find a good spot and there we found this bridge known as “Elizabeth Bridge”.  This bridge is painted into white. It is the third newest bridge that connects Buda and Pest that crosses the Danube River with the total length of 378.6m and 27.1 m width. According to what I read, it was named after Queen Elizabeth, a popular Queen and empress of Austria-Hungary, who was assassinated in 1898.

The photo above was the only photo I got, because my husband and I decided to head back to hotel. When we arrived to hotel, my husband searched over the internet about Malls in Hungary. He got exactly the address and possible sub-way going to that direction; so that the next morning we wouldn’t waste our time from finding it by ourselves (hoping to find it without any help).
