Czech Spring 2013

After a very long winter, spring has finally shows up here in Czech Republic. The weather is nice, and from time to time we get some rain. The trees are starting to be green and flowers are blooming. You can smell the fresh wind breeze while the birds are chirping day and night. Although, there is something I don’t really like about spring and summer; that is the small insects that goes inside the house when you leave doors and windows open. They just love the light specially at night, and they just died inside; and its kind of messy. Daily cleaning is really a must.

You can’t really avoid leaving windows or doors open because here in Czech Republic, we don’t use air-condition. There are some place where they use air-condition but it’s very rare here. So when temperature gets a little bit higher, and sun shines great; then we have no choice but to leave doors and windows open so we get to have some air or just to get a little get better temperature inside our home.

Spring is about outdoor activities, that is why it more traffic on the road during Friday, because people are usually going on weekend road trips, or to mountains and rent some cottage to spend the weekends in the woods. Motor bikers are also hitting the road, and also cause more accident because of their deadly speed, and that is why I hear ambulance every now and then, so often.

Aside from motor bikers, spring is also the time where people here in Czech republic spend most quality time together with their love ones and families. They usually go bicycling all together. That is typical here in Czech. You can see them on the road or parks, that family are go bicycling together even with small kids. Which is really nice.

But the best thing about spring is that; you get to see environment changing and blooming. It is just awesome to see it beautiful and pleasing.

I captured this photo on the way to school (City of Jihlava). It was actually just few steps away from our home. It is stunning and really great. When I show this photo to my husband, he couldn’t even recognized and he says that it looks like a painting. Indeed it does!

This is yet a simple shot on the way home from school(City of Jihlava). Behind that wall is I think a Mental Hospital (If I am not mistaken).

Like I said, spring started and so are the outdoor activities. I captured this photo when my husband and I went for a walk by the lake. People are going there for a run, to sit on the bench near the lake, and…

most of them go fishing. In this photo are just few people, there are actually more on the every side of this big lake. Ducks are there too, and so are the dogs trying to bathe themselves.

My husband and I went to visit Prague for weekend and so we take a look at Charles Bridge and I captured a simple shot from my mobile phone. Everything is lovely and beautiful. Ducks are actually enjoying the water and so as those people taking a river cruise.

When spring started to shows up; here in Old Town Square (Prague) you can find these people enjoying the “OLD PRAGUE HAM”, which is my husband’s favorite. Vendors are everywhere and the smell of smoke meat and any other food are just all over the place. It is indeed hard to resist. (Giggles)

So well then, enjoy the spring everyone!

  1. Most Czechs don’t rent cottages. They have their own. They rent them only during summer for longer stays (3 and more days) when there is not any owned by the family. Another time when Czechs decide to rent cottages is probably in winter located near ski slopes so several family members rent one and spent holidays there.
