I’m Back!

Hello everyone, I am back! Been so long since the last time I updated my blog. Sorry for that. I have some health issue that caused me not to write anything or even use any gadgets. So far, I feel a little bit better and I’m willing to share you guys some good news.

It’s been a while that I don’t even know where to start. I just hope I am that better to write the whole thing up in few hours but I still can’t so it’ll be a little bit shorter for now. I will share you more as soon as feel completely better.

Teaching and Learning

My brother in-law has decided to learn English language and asks for my help, of course I do not take money for teaching. That’s not me. But he offers to help communicate more in Czech language. I think that is best learning strategy that we could come-up.

The first few minutes, was a little bit hard because I do not know how far he already knows. So literally, few minutes was about catching up and to become more comfortable to each other. Afterwards, we looked up his homework which was about using “that, those, this, and these” which is easier to discuss with him. There are some misunderstanding though, which is pretty normal.

He is improving but I guess four hours of his intensive course a day is a little bit odd. They never discussed some important basics, which supposed to be at the beginning in order for him to communicate a little bit. I observed that they jumped-up quite far ahead into learning words without discussing even the question that begins to ” Where?”. Continue reading

Obtaining Driver’s License In Czech Republic

September 20, 2013, my theoretical and practical driving exams were scheduled. It was 8 in the morning when I started the theoretical exam and finished after 25 minutes (that long because I was too careful and also because I have a translator who needs to tell me everything first before I pick the answers) Unlike any other, I didn’t ask my translator for any kind of help. Also because I already learned most of it at home, and I believed that I can do it without any help from him; and also because there is a recording. If they found out he helps me, they will not give me the license.

I did it!!! I Passed my first ever attempt of theoretical and practical driving exams. Yey!!! :D

I did it!!! I Passed my first ever attempt of theoretical and practical driving exams. Yey!!! 😀

In the end, I got only one mistake and I passed! Out of 25, I got 24 and I am happy and proud of myself.  It felt like, I am that close to be a driver. The only thing I have to do is to pass my practical exam which was scheduled at the same day at around 10 in the morning. I was so nervous while waiting there. I felt like I am freezing even though the weather was still so calm and friendly. I didn’t feel much of my fingers, and my knees were starting to shake. I kept on massaging my hands to calm me down, but it wasn’t helping at all.

My husband was there with me. He was also scheduled to take theoretical and practical at the same day. I asked him to go once the inspector arrive to the place, so I won’t get too nervous. He did exactly what I asked him to do. He is very supportive. Continue reading

Learning Czech Language Update

Learning Czech is something that makes my life a little bit more interesting and some part of it makes me going every single day. But this month of July, I am afraid that I will be a little lost because my teacher is on holiday for the whole month and that means, no going to school and less speaking Czech.

I am aware that whenever I stopped speaking Czech for quite sometime, I immediately have this fear that I would look stupid again once I come back, without practice; so  decided to ask my husband for help. The whole month of July we are going to speak Czech as soon as we open our eyes in the morning until the midnight of everyday. We set the deal, of what punishment are awaiting whenever we speak English accidentally or intentionally. Continue reading

What’s New? Czech Republic Experiencing Flood

Many cities in the Czech Republic are now experiencing flood in many cities, including Prague. We are experiencing heavy rain for many days now which now caused flood in many areas, specially those places connected in the Vltava and any other small rivers. The authorities already evacuated people who are and might be affected by the floods.

So far, we haven’t experience flood in the city of Jihlava because it’s a higher area, but I felt so sad for those people who are affected and also for the damaged to their properties. Some trains route and Subway are not allowed to operate due to risk of flood. So if you are currently in Prague, I suggest you keep track on place you are planning to go and keep yourself updated by the news. For more information click here!!! You can translate the page because it is in Czech.

I wish you all pleasant day, and keep safe everyone.

Burning Of The Witches 2013 (Pálení ÄŒarodÄ›jnic)

Every 30th of April, people in Czech Republic are celebrating Burning of the witches whether they live in a village or city. This tradition is being performed every year at the same date as they believe that if they continue the tradition; the power of the witches will weaken and finally the cold weather will go away and so the warm weather will come and start.

I wrote an article about this tradition last year (Link here!) The article is all about me trying to fit-in with their tradition. I was a person who was just observing back then. This year, I am more likely used to it. I know what’s going to happen and what the program is all about. Like always, me, my husband and my in-laws are gathered together in the same lake where we been before, “Hubertka Lake”. Continue reading

Czech Spring 2013

After a very long winter, spring has finally shows up here in Czech Republic. The weather is nice, and from time to time we get some rain. The trees are starting to be green and flowers are blooming. You can smell the fresh wind breeze while the birds are chirping day and night. Although, there is something I don’t really like about spring and summer; that is the small insects that goes inside the house when you leave doors and windows open. They just love the light specially at night, and they just died inside; and its kind of messy. Daily cleaning is really a must.

You can’t really avoid leaving windows or doors open because here in Czech Republic, we don’t use air-condition. There are some place where they use air-condition but it’s very rare here. So when temperature gets a little bit higher, and sun shines great; then we have no choice but to leave doors and windows open so we get to have some air or just to get a little get better temperature inside our home.

Spring is about outdoor activities, that is why it more traffic on the road during Friday, because people are usually going on weekend road trips, or to mountains and rent some cottage to spend the weekends in the woods. Motor bikers are also hitting the road, and also cause more accident because of their deadly speed, and that is why I hear ambulance every now and then, so often. Continue reading

Spring Won’t Show Up

Weather has been really crazy here in Czech Republic. It feels like snow doesn’t want to go away, and spring doesn’t want to show-up. People are getting sick of this cold weather which supposed to be gone by now. No wonder!

I enjoy snow pretty much and that’s a fact, but this? This is too much for this year. It’s way too long now, and people are looking forward to have pretty warm sunshine, and a fine weather to enjoy outdoor activities. But we can’t do anything about it. It is, how it is.

News report on the television says that we might experience this weather until the beginning of the next month. But of course, who knows? (-4,-9, -8) Those are the temperature shown on my smart phone, I guess I don’t need to remove winter clothes out from the closet. It’s still needed.

This is the photo I captured today. After 2-3 days of snowfall, see how messy road we have right now. So slippery, dirty, specially when you went out for walk.  Continue reading

I Am Chefs Nightmare

This is alarming, and heartbreaking. Sometimes I considered it my biggest problem ever! Alright, I love to eat, and yes I love to go to restaurant specially when laziness strikes. But few days ago, I worried about my action that led me into asking myself this question “How Many Chefs Heart I broke So Far?”

This photo is just illustration.

This photo is just illustration.

My husband took me to dinner at Pizzeria Venezia in the city of Jihlava. I ordered spaghetti Bolognese (my favorite) and he ordered pizza capricciosa . I actually ate all of it because of huge hunger, except with the sauce. (?) Yeah? Well, I loved it so much but I am not much into the sauce. (Not sauce lover) They cooked really great and it was so delicious, so when I ate all of the noodles and left some sauce on the plates I thought it will not be an issue. Continue reading
